Alluring. Soothing. Purposeful. Special.

Play this game for the meaning. Play it for the art. Play it to help widdle bitty frosty animals in their preternatural quest to save the planet. Play it to have some more quality time with your iOS device.
I installed both Icecap and Angry Birds on my iPhones and gave them to my 5- and 8-year-old cousins. They were captivated by both, and have asked for Icecap by name on multiple occasions. So I was glad that they don't just want something that's violently annoying ;)
I love the soothingly ethereal swell of the sound effects. I love the beautifully fluffy particle animations, like the aurora borealis. I love the sense of purely positive purpose. It's like I'm meditating on the innate balance-seeking intelligence of animals and nature, while pursuing my own goals in a game. I have a sense of helping the whole world. Maybe that's just me and my escapism. ;) But hey, the game indulges that. On some level, animals as a whole really do know what's going on.
I have won, but I'm not really sure how yet. It's just nice to play.
The designer of this game also comes from a world of boutique board games, fine paintings, and human ecology. He recognizes the art, nature, purpose, and pure love in everything. And he brings it down to a fun level that everyone can enjoy.
I'll look forward to a cosmetic update for iPhone 4's retina display!
